Character creation rules/guidelines:

• All players must create a 5th-Level character on D&D Beyond using a link provided after registration

• Characters must be fully built on D&D Beyond and must observe the following:

  • Character Preference Settings:

    • Under Sources, only "Noncore D&D Content" should be active

    • Under Optional Features, both options may be active

    • Hit Point Type should be set to "Fixed"

    • Under Use Prerequisites, both options should be active

  • Point Buy or Standard Array are both allowable for Ability Scores

• Characters will NOT receive any starting equipment from their class

• Characters will receive 1,000gp and may choose one (1) Rare (or lesser) magic item

• All equipment/inventory must be purchased using this 1,000gp

• This gold may be used to purchase additional magic items ONLY from the list below:

  • Potions

    • Healing - 50gp

    • Animal Friendship - 100gp

    • Greater Healing - 100gp

    • Superior Healing - 500gp

  • Spell Scrolls

    • Cantrip - 25gp

      • ALL characters can purchase and use Cantrip Spell Scrolls, regardless of whether their class has the ability to use magic or cast that spell. Cantrip scrolls are considered to be cast at the lowest level possible.

    • 1st Level - 75gp

    • 2nd Level - 150gp

    • 3rd Level - 300gp

    • In order to use a scroll of 1st Level or higher, the spell must be an option on your character’s list of spells. For example, a Cleric or an Oath of the Crown Paladin can use a scroll of Spirit Guardians, but an Oath of Ancients Paladin cannot. 

  • Other

    • +1 weapon - 1,000gp

Match Rules:

• First-round matches will be determined randomly

• Each match will have a time limit of 10 minutes

  • If both characters are still up at 10 minutes, the character with the most hit points left will win the match

• The winner of each match will move on to the next round, etc. until there is one character left

• Players will dictate their movements to the match referee who will move the characters on the map

• Players can dictate their moves and actions over audio (method TBD) or via text or messaging app

In -between Matches:

• Characters will be allowed one (1) short rest between each match

• Short rests will follow standard D&D short rest rules

Other:

• Match referees have final say during matches

• Roleplaying is strongly encouraged throughout the tournament :)
