A sentient swarm of insects and nanobots scooped up by Volley and Remy as a neurodivergent murder machine he travels around the universe trying to prove to his god that he is the apex predator in the universe. A strangely insightful companion with troublesome table manners with a penchant for sentient meals.  

Remmy grew up in the slums of Absalom station, from a family of hundreds. Here, he found his best friend, partner in crime, and soon to be captain, Volley. After hoisting a few lucrative jobs, they linked up with the living swarm that is Haven and set out to find their riches in the galaxy. Now Remmy gets to spend every day doing what he loves, with the people he loves: living right on the edge of mechanical failure.  

Halo Oooooolarn is a pilot from Hibb, a small moon with a mysterious history. Its people are nonbinary, blue phalluses with no arms or legs. To help eir people learn more about the universe, Halo streams eir daily life and adventures in space back to Hibb. Halo is learning that ey is a rare pacifist in an often violent and harsh life on a star ship.  

Captain Volley is not your average Brennari. He spends his days leading a group of (mostly) elite ex-bandits, scientists, and social media superstars on hilarious and perilous hijinks around the galaxy. Between Volley’s temper, his mouth, and his reality warping magic, he makes for an interesting captain! 

I find that it is difficult to remain an anonymous observer when you are a seven foot tall Verthani. Although my prime objective is to study civilizations and cultures, lately I have found myself following a ship’s crew who seem to have bitten off more than they can chew. (Well, perhaps not for Haven;  they can eat quite a lot.) Now, rather than a passive bystander, I am assisting in thwarting a political coup, capturing and interrogating ne'er do wells, and learning how to speak Spathinae. It has been a busy past few days.
